Rhino Beetle, pencil on paper

This A5 piece comes presented in a black shadowbox frame and features a male rhinoceros beetle. The inspiration and reference for this piece comes from my own specimen collection, as I found and pinned multiple (already deceased) rhino beetles around the time I created this drawing. These beautiful creatures take up to two years to mature, during which time they stay buried as grubs. The adults are incredibly strong for their size, and make a hissing noise when threatened.
